How VeRelief can help reduce headache pain severity
Headache is a common side effect of stress. Vagus nerve stimulation is actually FDA-cleared to treat headache and migraine, so it can be an effective way to reduce headache pain for those living with chronic stress and headache.
Some people report that using VeRelief to stimulate the vagus nerve reduces headache pain. However, there is another way you can use VeRelief to reduce headache pain. This article will explain an alternative protocol to use VeRelief to reduce headache pain.
Mode 2: Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation for Headache
Stimulating the trigeminal nerve in the forehead is also another FDA-cleared method to reduce headache pain. VeRelief comes with a stimulation waveform that has been used clinically to reduce headache pain by stimulating the trigeminal nerve in the forehead. This waveform is found in Mode 2.
Set the device in Mode 2, which uses a constant 25Hz stimulation waveform. Make sure you have a fresh set of gel tips in the device. Before applying the device to your forehead, you may want to rub some hydration gel into your forehead to moisturize your skin to ensure the most comfortable experience. The forehead is much more sensitive than the neck or wrist, so it is important to start out slowly with this protocol.
Start by setting the intensity between 20-40%, or where only the first or second LED light is showing up. Then prepare to apply the gel tips to your forehead.
The right location will be in the center of your forehead above either eye. There is a left and right branch of the trigeminal nerve right above both eyes. It does not matter which branch y0u start with first.
Apply the gel tips in a horizontal orientation to the left or right trigeminal nerve above the eye right in the center of the forehead. You may need to move the gel tips around slightly until you hit the nerve. You will know you hit the nerve when you feel a "buzzing" sensation going up into the top of your head. Once you find this "buzzing" sensation, hold the device in place for as long as you feel comfortable. There is no time limit to how long you can stimulate the trigeminal nerve.
If you don't feel the "buzzing" sensation, you may need to turn up the intensity or keep moving the device around until you do feel it.
Depending on where you headache is, you may also want to stimulate the other side as well for a few minutes.
Note
This protocol will not make a headache or migraine go away. It is purely a method that can provide immediate relief from the painful throbs of a headache as they occur. It will also only provide relief while you are actively stimulating. Once you remove the device, it is likely the headache will return.
VeRelief is not a medical device intended to treat headache or migraine. It is only a wellness device designed to help improve quality of life for those living with headache.
