Troubleshooting: Electrodes Fell Apart or Shrunk

If your VeRelief device electrodes have fallen apart or shrunk, it’s often due to improper handling or excessive pressure during use. Here’s a guide to understanding the issue and how to avoid it in the future.

1. Common Causes of Electrodes Breaking or Shrinking

  • Excessive Pressure During Removal:

    • Removing electrodes with too much force can damage them, causing them to break or fall apart.
    • Electrodes are designed to be handled delicately to maintain their integrity.
  • Pressing Too Hard Against the Neck:

    • Applying excessive pressure while using the device can compress and degrade the electrodes, shortening their lifespan.

2. Best Practices for Handling Electrodes

  • Minimize Removal:

    • Limit how often you remove electrodes from the device.
    • If removal is necessary, do so gently and with care to avoid damaging the material.
  • Proper Device Use:

    • Ensure you are not pressing the device too firmly against your neck during use. Light, flush contact is sufficient for effective stimulation.

3. Troubleshooting Reduced Stimulation

If you are having trouble feeling stimulation and the electrodes are intact:

  • Ensure Flush Contact:

    • Confirm the electrodes are making proper contact with your skin in the approximate area recommended.
  • Increase Intensity:

    • Adjust the intensity by pressing the plus (+) button. Gradually increase to a comfortable level.
  • Micro-Adjust Placement:

    • Slightly adjust the device’s position to find the optimal spot for stimulation.
  • Verify the Mode:

    • If using Mode 4 or Mode 5, remember these modes have ramp-up and ramp-down cycles that may temporarily affect stimulation.
    • To check the current mode:
      1. Press and hold the plus (+) and minus (–) buttons for 1–2 seconds.
      2. The blinking LED corresponds to the active mode. Refer to your user instructions or help center articles for more details on mode selection.

4. Replacing Electrodes

If the electrodes have fallen apart or shrunk significantly:

  • Replace them with new electrodes to restore functionality and comfort.
  • Ensure you handle the new electrodes carefully to prevent similar issues.
