Troubleshooting: What to Do If Your VeRelief Device Has No Output

If your handheld VeRelief device (Mini, Reset, Pro, or Prime) isn’t producing output or stimulation, follow these troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue.

1. Check the Basics

  • Verify Power:
    • Ensure the device is charged. If unsure, plug it in and look for the blue LED charging indicator. The further to the right the light bar illuminates the higher the device is charged. Refer to your device’s manual for charging instructions.
  • Remove the Cap:
    • Make sure the blue LED lights turn on when the cap is removed. This indicates the device is powered and ready for use. If the first LED is flashing and the device cannot be used the battery is dead.

2. Inspect the Gel Tips

Gel tips play a critical role in delivering stimulation. Issues with the gel tips are a common cause of no output.

  • Check for Proper Contact:
    • Ensure the gel tips are securely inserted and are making contact with the metal disks inside the device slots. Press gently if needed.
  • Test the Gel Tips:
    • Place your fingers on the gel tips while the device is on (at a low intensity). If you feel a light electric current, the device is working.
  • Replace the Gel Tips:
    • Dry or worn-out gel tips can stop the device from functioning properly. Replace the gel tips with a fresh pairand try again.
  • Moisturize Dry Skin:
    • Apply a small amount of hydration gel or light lotion to the neck area. Dry skin can reduce conductivity and make the stimulation feel weak or absent.

3. Check the Intensity Settings

  • Ensure the device is turned up to at least 50% intensity. Gradually increase the intensity to determine if you can feel the stimulation.
  • On VeRelief Prime, test Mode 3 for faster stimulation and better output detection.
  • All handled VeRelief devices require multiple inputs to fully illuminate the next LED when adjusting intensity/power of stimulation.

4. Test the Device on Your Forehead

If you’re still not feeling output on your neck:

  1. Set the device to full power.
  2. Lightly press the gel tips against your forehead.
  3. If you feel a “jolt” or tingling, the device is functioning correctly, and the issue may relate to placement or dry skin.

5. Verify Placement on the Neck

Proper placement ensures the stimulation reaches the vagus nerve:

  • Position the gel tips on the soft spot below the earlobe, against the jawbone.
  • Subtly move the device until you feel a buzzing or vibration sensation.

6. Device-Specific Notes

  • VeRelief Mini and Reset: These devices ramp up stimulation for 15 seconds and down for 5 seconds (2 seconds completely off). Hold the device in place for at least 10-15 seconds to allow the stimulation to cycle. More details found in instruction booklet and digital support resources.
  • VeRelief Prime: Switch between Modes 1-5 to test different stimulation patterns. Use Mode 3 for faster stimulation detection.
